Purchased The Choicer Voicer voice-over app. I could not get it to record audio. Contacted itch.io support on 9/26. No reply. Replied to support ticket on 10/1 requesting a refund. No reply.
My game remained hard to find, and there was no clear indication of when search indexing might happen. The silence makes it difficult to know whether anything is moving or what to do next. I like the idea of a place for indie releases, but this part has been a real letdown. 😕

They seem to move at a geologically slow pace. Getting your game indexed takes an undefined amount of time, no updates, no expectation of timescales, no details about index criteria, just a very very long and silent wait.
Not safe for game creators. There are a lot fake assets and ai slop that misleading people. There are no refund or customer service.
A seller on itch.io sold an asset bundle falsely advertised as 32x32 pixel art, which turned out to be unusable, distorted AI-generated images with no disclosure. I contacted itch.io customer support twice for a refund with full evidence and a valid order ID. I received zero response after three weeks of waiting. I had to dispute the transaction through my bank to get my money back. Itch.io allows fraudulent AI asset scams on their platform and completely ignores support tickets.
