Not a Good Company
If you subscribe to World Anvil, be very careful that you do not forget about your subscription. I hadn't used the site for some time and made the unpleasant discovery that they're one of these companies that doesn't remind you when a large renewal is coming.
While I understand why a company would want you to forget so they can grab your money and run, it doesn't stop the practice from being scummy, and it's precisely why in the UK there's plans to crack down on companies who display this behaviour.
In World Anvil's case, I emailed several different email addresses connected with the site, including one of the owners and the official contact email the site directs you to use, on the same day I was charged to request a refund. I didn't expect to be refunded because I know what these companies are like, but what made it worse is I didn't even get a response. They took the money and then completely ignored me.
If that doesn't tell you what sort of company they are, nothing will.
And to be balanced, the site itself is... acceptable. It works 70-80% of the time, is extremely sluggish, but works if you're patient. There are better alternatives. I've added a star because it technically functions, at least most of the time.
Just a shame the company engages in grab and run behaviour. I'll never give them another penny.
