ugh, the scores and the criticism don't seem to line up consistently, which makes the reviews hard for me to use. i end up checking other coverage before deciding what to think. when a site also gives the impression that industry ties may shape its judgments, confidence is pretty much gone.

After several articles left me unsure what was reporting and what was opinion, I stopped relying on the news section. The game scores feel uneven too, so I check other sources before making up my mind. It’s frustrating when a site that covers games doesn’t feel dependable.
As we can see now, and the discussion about Sony and no more physical media, IGN is supporting and defending Sony at any cost. Thats not independend, its a sellout!

They are a propaganda outlet larping as a "review" website. Inconsistent, hates their audience, thinks of the audience as something to "fix" with so-called modern values of inclusivity, and at the same time gives games that are truly diverse low scores to hamper their sales (Chinese - Where Winds Meet, Korean - Crimson Desert). They are the textbook example of what happens when you hire a bunch of activists who pursue access journalism. Whatever their score is, invert it and you will get a good idea. Nowadays I honestly want to see games that I am looking forward to, get a 5-6 out of 10 from this outlet. Because of they think it is below mediocre, it is actually a masterpiece!

This company time and time again gives arbitrary numbers to games which goes against the entire sentiment of players playing these games, who is to say that other parts of ign isn’t influenced by industry relations and paid to review basis. Ask anyone online if they believe IGN to be a reliable source to evaluate the quality of games and they laugh in your face. IGN is a joke of a company and everyone knows it.
