Ticket closed, issue still there

Frustrating to get a ticket closed without the problem being fixed. The canned replies made it hard to feel anyone had really looked into it.

Unfair Penalty Caused by a Flawed…

Unfair Penalty Caused by a Flawed Automated System (VAC) My recent experience with Valve’s anti-cheat system was extremely frustrating. I was in a regular Counter-Strike match, playing normally, when the game was suddenly interrupted and I received a global suspension for alleged unusual activity. I have never used cheats, external software, or any prohibited tools. Being penalized by an automated system without a clear explanation or a fair review of the situation is very disappointing. What makes it even worse is that, while the suspension is active, you are also unable to post a review on Steam. This makes it harder for legitimate players to share what happened. Valve should improve how these cases are reviewed, reduce incorrect penalties, and provide more transparent support for players who believe they were affected unfairly.

I usually love steam for their constant…

I usually love steam for their constant sales, ease of use and good games they produce however as an Australian with a visa debit card I feel completely blindsided as they swapped their age verification to being under the attachment of a credit card. As a 20 year old Australian who does not make enough to comfortably take on debt from owning a credit card I don’t understand why I should be barred from playing 18+ games because the company is too lazy to get proper age authentication. I wanted to give you 70 bucks for RE 7,8 and 9 but now have to give 180 to Nintendo for the same games on a worse console. So I’m pissed off. Fix your authenticity system so I can give you dumbasses money.

Keep Ancient around

Ancient, please. That map is a lot of fun, and I'd happily keep it in rotation.

Valve owns Steam

Valve owns Steam. Steam punishes people for leaving bad reviews. Steam pretends to be for consumers but actually works with toxic game companies, and attacks small devs. 0/10 company.

** Six Years as a Valve Index Owner

** Six Years as a Valve Index Owner — Disappointed by Valve's Handling of a Failed Base Station** I wanted to share my recent experience with Valve Support, particularly for those of you who still own and regularly use the Valve Index. I purchased my complete Valve Index VR Kit directly from Steam in October 2020 for approximately $1,000. Nearly six years later, I'm still using it regularly and have thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Until recently, I've had very few complaints about the hardware. Unfortunately, one of my Base Station 2.0 units suddenly developed the dreaded blinking red LED. I spent considerable time troubleshooting the problem. I power-cycled the station, swapped power adapters with my functioning station, isolated the defective unit, and verified that my headset continued tracking normally using the remaining base station. When none of that resolved the issue, I opened a Steam Support ticket, provided the defective unit's serial number, and attached a complete SteamVR diagnostic report. Valve confirmed that the blinking red LED indicated a **laser failure**, that no further troubleshooting or firmware updates could resolve it, and that the base station needed to be replaced. Fair enough. Electronics fail. I understand that. Here's where my disappointment begins. **I explicitly acknowledged that my equipment was nearly six years old and well outside its warranty period.** I wasn't demanding a free replacement or suggesting Valve had any legal obligation to provide one. Instead, I politely asked whether Valve might consider a goodwill replacement or another accommodation for a longtime customer who had invested in its premium VR hardware. The response was essentially a standard warranty denial. I followed up, expressing my disappointment and asking whether my request could receive further consideration. I also raised another concern: **Valve's own Base Station 2.0 is listed as out of stock on Steam.** If the company confirms that my hardware is beyond repair but doesn't have replacement hardware available for purchase, what exactly is an existing Index owner supposed to do? After another exchange, Steam Support confirmed the following: - Valve is no longer manufacturing Index products. - Valve says it has no plans to discontinue technical support for Index owners. - Steam Support has no additional information about replacement inventory beyond what's publicly visible in the Steam Store. - Warranty eligibility remains subject to the original warranty period. - Since Steam has no base stations available, Valve recommends checking with the VR community for compatible replacements. That last point particularly bothered me. **I purchased a $1,000 premium VR system directly from Valve, and when an essential component failed, the manufacturer's solution was effectively to tell me to ask the VR community where I could buy replacement hardware.** To be clear, I understand that six years is a respectable lifespan for electronic equipment. I don't expect Valve to manufacture the Index forever, and I don't believe an expired warranty entitles me to a complimentary replacement. But I do think there's a difference between enforcing a warranty and demonstrating a meaningful commitment to customers who invested in your hardware ecosystem. I would have appreciated some flexibility, a discounted replacement, a refurbished unit, or even a direct recommendation for an authorized supplier of compatible hardware. Instead, the entire exchange felt rigid, impersonal, and dismissive. I've since learned that compatible HTC Base Station 2.0 units are available through other channels, and I'm exploring those options. **My disappointment isn't really about having to spend money on a replacement. It's about how Valve handled the situation.** I've been a Steam customer for years, and I genuinely love my Index. I use it regularly and have no desire to abandon it. But this experience has made me think twice about investing another $1,000 in Valve hardware without understanding how the company intends to support customers when that hardware is eventually discontinued. I've closed my support case. I'm not looking to organize a boycott or demand special treatment. I simply wanted to share my experience so other Index owners, and anyone considering Valve's newer VR hardware, have another perspective on what long-term ownership can look like. **I'm curious: Have other Index owners experienced similar failures recently? And has anyone received a goodwill replacement or meaningful assistance from Valve after their warranty expired?** I'd genuinely like to hear how Valve has handled these situations for others.

Steamworks: long waits and dismissive replies instead of help

I am extremely disappointed with Steamworks support. In my experience, their attitude toward users is dismissive and careless. I had to wait almost a week for the first response. What I received was a generic instruction that essentially amounted to “figure it out yourself” and did not solve my problem. I would never have contacted support if I could fix it myself: the field I need to change is locked and cannot be edited. I explained in detail why their suggested solution did not work and attached a screenshot. Then came another prolonged wait without a resolution. When I opened a second ticket asking them to finally help, they closed it unilaterally, citing their “one issue, one ticket” rule and telling me to wait for a response in the original ticket. Meanwhile, the original ticket still remains unanswered. They managed to close the additional request, but have yet to resolve the actual problem. I have already paid the Steam Direct fee, but I cannot complete onboarding or create my app. Everything is blocked by a surname spelling correction that I cannot make myself. I am extremely frustrated by this treatment. After this experience, I would not recommend Steam to anyone. When you actually need help, you are left with long waits, generic replies, and complete uncertainty.
