I have been playing for around 6 years
This game has changed for the worse. Although I love the game it is filled with horrible people (I don't care how delusional or whatever they are, they're just really really horrible, manipulative, etc). I've seen and been called slurs, been insulted just for liking stuff (such as Murder Drones). I was also unfairly banned and more over jokes and messages that while yes, may have been a little inappropriate (such as kill yourself jokes), are nothing compared to the things i see on the daily in the main safe server (slurs, insults, sexual content, bigotry, etc etc), my partner was also banned once for saying the hawk tuah meme, which they did not bypass into the chat, they simply forgot it was a banned word and wrote it into a message, they then got kicked off the game, muted and banned for some hours (which is ridiculous, because that message never made it into the public chat)
There is also a problem with the fact nobody on this game seems to be original because like a good 30% of its playerbase depends entirely on tutorials to do anything, when most of the fun of the game comes from making your own ponies. This also affects everyone original directly since they tend to be copied or to be screenshotted and uploaded onto other websites so people think they're offering their ponies for free
There are also reports of the moderators/staff being terrible as people and terrible at their jobs, such as someone's review here mentioning being sexually harrassed by the staff, them drawing nsfw on public social media that can be accessed by minors + two things I personally know about;
1. When I was 13 years old, I played with a 20-21 year old who I met on discord, although we met there, he groomed me and became closer in-game, even urging me to make a pony of their fictional crush and then saying very sexual stuff towards me/it. Once players found out they jumped to defend me and report me (to get me off 18+)
Many reports likely indicated my grooming, but he was only banned off 18+ later on due to having an " alter " that presented as underage. He was never dealt with for chatting with a vulnerable 13 year old and being sexual.
2. I have been told by an old friend this horror story without any names, but due to the nature of the staff I can see it being real.
There is a story that a pony town supporter (basically, someone who pays for their patreon benefits) groomed a little kid on the game. The kid seeked help, and got them dealt with. Upon staff learning who they had banned had been an active supporter, they immediately took their side and banned the innocent victim.
Wanna know why I keep going back to this game like an abused dog that yearns for love? Its amazing customization system, no other game has this level of customization mixed with a social aspect, and that is very sad.
+Little fun fact, I've played very little in the Spanish/Portuguese servers although spanish is my native language, but the mod applications for those servers have seemed to be open forever, and there are no active staff listed for them, take that however you want. :)
